Hurricane Jimena

Hurricane Jimena

Category 4 hurricane Jimena has now gone past Cabo San Lucas and is heading north up Baja California. Great white shark diving operations at Guadalupe Island continue uninterrupted because (a) weather forecast is currently calling for light winds and normal sea condition at Guadalupe and (b) Guadalupe is well off the hurricane lanes because of the relatively cool water temps of 73 degrees. Hurricanes dissipate when water temps drop below 80 degrees. We have 2 combo trip departures in September scheduled to include diving at San Benitos Island which is closer to the path of hurricane Jimena. We will continue closely monitoring the situation and if necessary, reroute the Nautilus Explorer to areas that were out of the hurricane path and have good in-water visibility.
