We ran our first diving expedition to the Channel Islands 3 years ago and were blown away with how good the diving was (see our destination page for photos). Our expectations were blasted to smithereens!! The diving at San Clemente Island in the south rocked and we felt that we could have spent the whole week there. San Miguel Island in the north was very different and equally appealing. We loved the towering giant kelp forests and we loved interacting with the many sealions. It was a thrill to dive under an oil drilling platform and the amount of life was stunning. We were surprised at the biomass of both fish and invertebrate life throughout the islands. And it was super exciting to see our first garibaldi It's impossible to dive the length and breadth of the Channel Islands on a day boat or weekend dive boat but absolutely no problem on a week long trip on a long-range boat like the Nautilus Explorer.
We will be spending July 2010 diving the Channel Islands and invite you to join us to see firsthand just how great the diving really is.
Captain Mike.
